The HSFL clean room is located in the basement of the POST (Pacific Ocean Science and Technology) Building on the main campus of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

The clean room hallways are rated at class 100,000 and the general work rooms, class 10,000.  The facility also contains a class 1,000 optical and semiconductor lab.

The HSFL clean room is primarily used for the integration, assembly, and testing of satellites.  As such, it houses the ADCS Test Facility and System Thermal Vacuum Chamber. A variety of equipment, tooling, and instrumentation is also maintained in the facility to support these and related activities.
